Deep in the desert, you'll find a place where agriculture, culture, and community life converge: Liwa Farm Village, nestled in the historic Liwa Oasis west of Abu Dhabi. This 7,000-square-meter complex seamlessly blends modern design with traditional culture, creating a welcoming and environmentally friendly living space.

利瓦农场村位于阿布扎比西部的利瓦绿洲，地处沙特阿拉伯边境附近，由墨西哥城的印加·埃尔南德斯设计事务所（Inca Hernandez Atelier） 设计，它不仅是一个农场，更是一个文化聚集地，体现了沙漠与现代生活的完美融合。

Located in the Liwa Oasis west of Abu Dhabi, near the Saudi Arabian border, Liwa Farm Village was designed by Mexico City-based firm Inca Hernandez Atelier. It is more than just a farm; it is a cultural gathering place, embodying the perfect fusion of desert and modern life.

# 材料选择：夯土的回归在沙漠里，建筑选择了最质朴的材料——夯土。夯土工艺的建筑外墙将沙漠中的沙子与混凝土混合，既能提供优异的热质量，保持室内舒适温度，又具有抗侵蚀能力。粘土格子结构减轻了墙体重量，并有效过滤阳光与空气，避免了过多热量的积聚，同时营造出透光的效果，使室内更具通透感。

Oases themselves have a rich history, providing water, shade, and fertile land to their inhabitants, testifying to human survival in the extreme desert environment. Inca Hernandez Design Studio drew inspiration from the ancient oasis culture, incorporating traditional architectural forms such as rammed earth walls, wind scoops, aflag irrigation systems, and palm trunk roofs. These elements have been modernized to preserve their historical charm while adapting to the harsh desert climate.

# Material Selection: The Return of Rammed Earth In the desert, the architecture chose the most rustic material: rammed earth. Rammed earth exterior walls, combining desert sand with concrete, provide excellent thermal mass, maintaining a comfortable indoor temperature, and resist erosion. The clay lattice structure reduces the wall's weight, effectively filtering sunlight and air to prevent excessive heat buildup, while also creating a translucent effect and a sense of airiness within the interior.

The clay lattice structure reduces the weight of the wall and effectively filters sunlight and air, avoiding excessive heat accumulation. At the same time, it creates a light-transmitting effect, making the interior more transparent.

# 环境回应：在极端中生长

这座农场不是以钢筋水泥征服沙漠，而是以夯土与绿植调和沙漠。

建筑的屋顶以棕榈树干为主要材料，借鉴了阿布扎比绿洲传统的屋顶设计形式。这种自然材料的使用，不仅能提供遮荫和降温功能，也与周围的自然环境无缝融合，营造出与自然和谐共生的氛围。

# Environmental Response: Growing in Extremes. #

This farm doesn't conquer the desert with concrete, but rather harmonizes it with rammed earth and greenery.

The building's roof, primarily constructed from palm trunks, draws inspiration from the traditional roof forms of Abu Dhabi's oases. This natural material not only provides shade and cooling, but also seamlessly blends in with the surrounding natural environment, creating an atmosphere of harmonious coexistence with nature.

Washed concrete elevates the building, protecting it from quicksand and enhancing its visual impact.

# 生活方式：绿洲的隐喻

项目的室内设计延续了外部建筑的传统元素，但在材质和布局上加入了现代化的设计手法，创造出一个既温馨舒适，又具有地方特色的空间。

# Lifestyle: A Metaphor of an Oasis Here, the oasis is no longer simply a source of water; it represents a metaphor for a lifestyle.

The project's interior design continues the traditional architectural elements of the exterior while incorporating modern design techniques in materiality and layout, creating a space that is both warm and comfortable, yet embodies local characteristics.

室内强调空间的流动性与开阔感，尤其是在公共区域如议事厅、展览厅等，采用大面积的窗户和开放式布局，最大化引入自然光和沙漠的景观视野。

The interior emphasizes the fluidity and openness of the space, especially in public areas such as meeting rooms and exhibition halls, which use large windows and open layouts to maximize the introduction of natural light and views of the desert landscape.

色调温暖、自然，强调沙漠中的地球色系，如土黄色、棕色、米色和绿色等，给人一种亲近自然的感觉。巧妙的自然光与人工照明的配合，使室内空间在不同时间段展现不同的氛围。

The color palette is warm and natural, emphasizing the earth tones of the desert, such as khaki, brown, beige, and green, giving people a sense of closeness to nature. The clever combination of natural light and artificial lighting makes the interior space present different atmospheres at different times of day.

与此相对，现代工艺和家具设计则通过简洁流线的造型和质感，提升了空间的舒适性与实用性。

In contrast, modern craftsmanship and furniture design enhance the comfort and practicality of the space through simple, streamlined shapes and textures.

在功能布局上更是注重了实用性，所有空间都以人性化为出发点。例如，兽医中心和马场的设计紧密相连，既方便了动物护理，又方便了社区成员的日常学习与交流；议事厅的设计则更注重灵活性，可以根据需要举办不同规模的文化活动和社交聚会。

The functional layout emphasizes practicality, with all spaces designed with humanistic considerations in mind. For example, the veterinary center and horse stables are closely connected, facilitating both animal care and daily learning and communication for community members. The meeting hall is designed with flexibility in mind, allowing for cultural events and social gatherings of varying sizes to be hosted as needed.

院落、遮阴、风口的设置，都在指向一种回归本真的日常——在极简的环境里，人和土地重新建立连接。夯土筑起的不仅是一座房子，而是一种“生活的绿洲”。

The courtyards, shade shelters, and ventilation vents all point to a return to a more authentic daily routine—a minimalist environment where people reconnect with the land. Rammed earth is more than just a house; it's an "oasis of life."
