Cartier opens flagship store in Tokyo, showcasing the luxurious charm of the East

Cartier new store at Ginza in Tokyo

Yesterday (September 19th), Cartier officially opened its boutique in Ginza 4-chome, Tokyo, Japan. This is Cartier's largest boutique in Asia.

The new store not only showcases Cartier's luxury jewelry and watches but also cleverly incorporates elements of Japanese art. From the origami-inspired ceiling to the intricate "leopard" themed wall art, every detail reflects Cartier's ultimate pursuit of exquisite craftsmanship.

The store occupies the lower four floors of the Hulic Ginza Sukiyabashi Building, designed by Tokyo-based Klein Dytham Architects. Its fluid, curved exterior contrasts with the building's linearity and interweaves with the surrounding cityscape, creating an atmosphere of simple elegance. The façade features a geometric pattern inspired by the traditional Japanese art of Seigaiha waves. The fan-shaped motif echoes the textures of nature, reflecting Cartier's profound respect for culture and art.
The store's interior design was created by Moinard Bétaille, a Parisian interior design firm and long-time Cartier partner.
The interior design concept is based on the concept of "residential retail." Through the inclusion of artworks by Japanese artists, the store cleverly incorporates Japanese aesthetics, allowing every customer to experience the interweaving of culture and luxury.
The first thing that catches the eye is the theme space that embodies Cartier's "leopard" spirit. The art wall created by Japanese paper artist Horiki Eriko depicts a leopard walking through the forest, as if telling a story full of power and elegance.

The second floor, boasting a striking origami-themed ceiling, features bridal and other diamond pieces, as well as accessories and gift collections. The "Japonais" salon on the same floor also showcases work by artist Ryo Hikosaka. Inspired by the abstract geometric diamond brooches pioneered by Louis Cartier in the early 20th century, this piece embodies a "modern style."

The third floor continues the classic elements of the Cartier brand, with the ceiling featuring an interwoven curved pattern inspired by the brand's iconic Trinity ring.

In addition, a dedicated perfume area and care service area are also displayed on this floor, bringing customers a full range of luxury experience.

There are several private salons on the top floor, the most special of which is the "Residences" private space. This space is a luxurious mansion that includes a bar and dining area, providing a completely customized service experience for high-end customers.
